Student Demographics & Achievements

Gary Comer College Prep is composed of 650 students ranging from 9th grade to 12th grade. In Fall 2011, the campus started a middle school that currently serves sixth-eight graders. Our student population is composed of approximately 4% Hispanic and 96% African American students. More than 80% of our Class of 2012 will be first-generation college graduates.

Gary Comer College Prep's first and inaugural senior class received an average of 5.75 acceptances to 4-year universities.  With the help of their GCCP teachers and college counselors, seniors received over $2 million in scholarships in 2012 alone, making their college dreams obtainable and realistic. It is the mission of GCCP to prepare every student so they may graduate from high school, attend a 4-year university of their choice, and graduate from this university with a degree.

With small class sizes, individual student attention, and devoted teachers, GCCP students are demonstrating outstanding growth in ACT scores which allows them a greater choice of universities, greater scholarship opportunities, and greater options for their future.
